IE PERFORMANCE TUNING FOR VW GOLF R 2012-2013 (MK6)

IE's motorsport-inspired software brings track-ready ECU programming to your VW Golf R while retaining factory comfort and reliability. Developed in-house, IE engineers are equipped with industry-leading tuning technology to completely reverse engineer the factory mapping and safely modify it to maximize performance. Years of professional tuning high-powered race vehicles and intimate knowledge of the VW & Audi engines results in a wicked fast car on the street or the track. Your new software tune is easily uploaded to your factory installed ECU (engine control module) without touching a wrench in your own driveway. Multiple tunes are available to match your stock or installed aftermarket hardware.

AVAILABLE TUNES

IE STAGE 1
The IE Stage 1 MK6 Golf R tune delivers an aggressive power upgrade without having to install any hardware modifications. Perfect for customers looking for a big jump in power without adding any additional hardware. In a matter of minutes, the vehicle will be much more enjoyable to drive with a massive boost in performance. Includes octane switching between 91 and 93 octanes. 

IE STAGE 2 LIGHT
IE Stage 2 light software is for customers who have installed a downpipe required for Stage 2 but have yet to install an IE High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP). Installing a performance downpipe while running a stock or Stage 1 ECU tune can result in over-boost conditions, check engine lights, or "Limp Mode". Stage 2 light will increase power levels taking advantage of the downpipe change while keeping safe fuel operating conditions. This will increase power greatly over Stage 1, but not to our full IE Stage 2 High Torque file. Once an upgraded HPFP is added, the user may upgrade to IE Stage 2 at any time at no additional cost.  To purchase IE Stage 2 Light, simply choose Stage 2 in the drop-down menu and flash the "Light" file in the IE Flash Wizard program when installing your tune.     

IE STAGE 2
For customers looking to maximize the performance of the stock engine and turbo setups with bolt-on hardware, IE Stage 2 software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match installed aftermarket hardware.  Stage 2 results deliver massive power gains across the powerband, fully realizing the engine and stock turbocharger potential. Includes 91, 93, and 100 octane switching.

IE STAGE 2 PRO (Adds Launch Control & No-Lift-Shift)

IE Stage 2 Pro MK6 Golf R performance software incorporates the massive power gains seen in the IE Stage 2 performance tune, but further builds on the performance aspects by including the motorsport functions of launch control and no-lift shift. These features are built into the software tune and offer neck-breaking launches and lightning fast shifting with no loss of boost between gears. This provides a large advantage over similarly powered vehicles. Includes 91, 93, and 100 octane switching.

IE STAGE 2 PRO IM (Intake Manifold Tune)

IE Stage 2 Pro IM MK6 Golf R performance flash is designed for customers looking to maximize the performance of the factory engine and turbocharger with an IE 2.0T Performance Intake Manifold (Sold Separately). IE Stage 2 Intake Manifold software fine-tunes the ECU calibration to match the manifold plenum and runner flow characteristics along with special tuning for the removed runner flaps. This file also includes launch control and no-lift shift, offering the same neck-breaking launches and lightning fast shifting with no loss of boost between gears as our Stage 2 Pro Tune. Results with a manifold deliver massive power gains across the powerband, fully realizing the Golf R's stock turbo and engine's potential. Includes 91, 93, and 100 octane switching.

IE POWERlink DIRECT PORT FLASH TOOL

IE's own in-house developed POWERlink cable gives you the control to unlock your engine’s true potential from your own garage or driveway. Enjoy the freedom to quickly reflash your car’s engine control unit (ECU) or transmission control unit (TCU) with IE’s line of performance tunes. The cable simply plugs into your vehicle’s OBD-2 port delivering instant access to choose different IE Tune stages to match installed hardware, take advantage of different fuel octanes, flash back to stock, perform engine diagnostics, read/clear codes and gather high-quality operating data via logging.

EASY OPERATION
Simply plug your IE POWERlink cable into your vehicle’s OBD-II port and the USB port on your Windows-powered laptop to use the included IE Flash Wizard software.

IE FLASH WIZARD SOFTWARE

IE's own easy to use Flash Wizard Software allows the IE POWERlink Tool to communicate with your vehicle's ECU to flash software tunes, upgrade, update, data log, or read/write codes. The software download is included with your tune/cable purchase and operates on any Windows 7+ powered laptop or tablet. The software is very simple to use and once installed will walk you through the fast tuning process to deliver instant horsepower. 

 

TECHNICAL FEATURES

DYNOMETER OPTIMIZED
After completely reverse engineering the factory ECU, our engineers use our in-house Dynapack DP42 dynamometer to perform repeated runs to test each change that is made to the software and confirm drivability in any situation. This ensures IE performance software delivers massive horsepower and torque increases across the entire powerband. Using our in-house dyno and advanced tuning tools, IE engineers have fully optimized every aspect of the factory ECU mapping on many different vehicles. This produces a tune that retains all factory like driving and safety protocols when needed, and an intense surge of power when you want it.

REMOVED SPEED LIMITER
The factory ECU speed limiter has been removed to make sure the increased power and torque can be used to its full potential on straightaways and drag strips.

INCREASED REV LIMIT
With the significant power increase, the rev limiter is also increased to allow a wider powerband on all IE Golf R files. By increasing the rev limit, you gain a perfect match for the increased performance available from your new IE performance software tune.

IMPROVED THROTTLE RESPONSE
To further increase the responsive feel of the car, IE engineers have carefully adjusted the throttle sensitivity. This offers a more connected feeling to your car with plenty of power available right beneath your foot.

OPTIMIZED FUELING
All IE tunes have been adjusted to run as economically as possible, dialing in air/fuel ratios to exactly where they need to be. With an IE performance ECU flash, it is common to see increased fuel economy under cruising and part-throttle driving.

I’m running the stage 1 93 octane with IE cold air intake file. (I also have new sways, endlinks, motor and transmission mounts, etc....) It feels like I bought a new car. IE stage 1 with the supporting mods turned my R into a beast! I can’t wait to see what IE Stage 2 Pro w/IM and water methanol injection is going to be like!! I guess I better start saving for a new clutch now!

Just wow. So easy to do, such great performance. I cant wait to get your Intake manifold and go even a step deeper down the rabbit hole (ha ha see what I did there). You guys have been incredible. Now just need to do my fuel pump this week and go Pro instead of lite.

I've had this tune for a couple of months now. I'm only on stage 1 with the IE intake, glad I made the decision. It really wakes the car up and gets rid of that dead zone during low rpm. I'd recommend anyone to go with IE for their MK6, can't wait to see what stage 2 PRO and PRO IM has to offer in the future.

Thought I would mention a few details not included on the page...
Stage 2 has multiple tunes included! Low torque, high torque, and a stage 1/2 hybrid that doesn't require an hpfp... this last one was a great surprise because I loaded it right away before I rebuilt my pump (intake and turboback required).

Lots of torque
Running stage 2 for about a year now, Throttle response is a lot responsive. gas mileage increase by 2-3 mpg. Lots of torque, went from stock to stage 2 about $1200 in.
Feels completely stock until you full throttle to 30psi. Always have a smile on my face when I smash on it.

Worth The Cost
The power increase isn't huge, but the car feels much more alive. The throttle response is more active and not as mushy as it was stock; no more stomping on the gas and waiting for the TPS to catch up. Also! I am seeing 3-6 mpg increases on my daily commute, so really, the Stage 1 tune is saving you money.
