JE stroker pistons when combined with a 2.1L crankshaft increase the engine displacement of a 1.8T 20V to 2.1L (2067CC). The added displacement bumps horespower and torque, faster turbo spool, increased engine response, and improved out of boost power. Stroker pistons feature a larger bore, larger oil squirter notches, modified piston dish, and properly place wrist pins allowing you to up the displacement by increasing the stroke and bore of the engine. Along with these specialty designed stroker pistons, the increased displacement to 2.1 liters is accomplished by using a larger 95.5mm stroke crankshaft and 144X20 connecting rod.  This stroker kit results in a 2067CC displacement that yields more horsepower and torque on the same boost pressure, less chance of detonation due to lower peak cylinder pressures, faster spool, and produces more power on low octane fuel.

JE stroker piston sets for the VW/Audi 1.8T 20V engine are offered in 8.5:1 or 9.5:1 compression ratios. Lower compression pistons (8.5:1) will allow higher boost levels on lower octane ratings with less chance of knock and cylinder detonation than higher compression ratio pistons. Lower compression will sacrifice out of boost power, spool time, and power/torque per pound of boost. Choose your compression ratio accordingly. For most engine builds we recommend using a higher compression ratio piston (9.5:1). Speak with your engine tuner about the fuel and boost pressures you will be using to determine the best compression for your engine.




Requires machine work! To reach the increased 2067CC displacement and 95.5mm stroke on a 1.8T block, stroker pistons require to be 83mm (+2mm overbore). Overbore pistons require additional machine work including a cylinder bore and hone. This work must be performed by a machine shop. Not only does overboring allow the increased displacement, this additional work also ensures a proper piston to wall clearance and in most cases results in stronger compression, longer piston life, increased ring life, and quieter piston operation.




JE Tuff Skirt coating upgrade 

JE's race bred Tuff Skirt coating is self lubricating and provides improved anti-friction and reduced wear. This coating is applied to the piston skirt designed to increase piston life and withstand many different types of endurance racing. Coating upgrades are non-stock and manufactured by order, all coatings have a 2-3 week lead time. 


JE thermal barrier crown coating upgrade

The thermal barrier crown coating is applied to the piston dome, designed to reflect heat into the combustion chamber.  This increases exhaust gas velocity, greatly improves scavenging potential, and extends piston life by decreasing the rate of thermal transfer. Coating upgrades are non-stock and manufactured by order, all coatings have a 2-3 week lead time. 


JE 180 "Tool Steel" wrist pin upgrade

JE 180 Tool Steel wrist pins are through-hardened 52100 high-carbon bearing steel for extreme forced induction or nitrous-fed racing applications and offer high-strength with low ductility.  Employing the latest in technology, each pin is checked to ensure dimensional measurements and roundness. Recommended upgrade for all engines exceeding 125HP per cylinder.


JE 210 "Drag Race" wrist pin upgrade

For drag race use only! Manufactured from the same through-hardened 52100 high-carbon bearing steel as the optional 180 tool steel wrist pins, the 210 Tool Steel pin offers the ultimate in JE wrist pin strength for the most extreme boosted, nitrous, and high torque applications. With strenght comes weight, due to the increased wall thickness on JE 210 drag race wrist pins we only recommend this upgrade on non-street drag race only applications. Running this pin option on street driven vehicles will likely result in decreased engine life. When selecting your wrist pin wall thickness, keep projected cylinder pressure, endurance, boost levels, torque onset, and weight requirements in mind.




Forged from 2618 T6 aluminum

Engineered for extreme operating environments found in professional motorsport competition, JE manufactures this light yet strong piston from high tensile strength 2618 T6 aluminum. This high performance alloy is suited for use with high compression ratios, high boost levels, and high octane useage tolerating acceleration forces of more than 8000 G's and directional changes exceeding 200 times a second, while minimizing weight. This reliable forging is the ultra-high performance choice when building a competition or very high powered boosted engine exceeding street power levels.


Optimized dish & dome design

The piston dish and dome have been individually designed to the combustion chamber of each individual application. Special care has been taken to provide properly placed valve reliefs as needed and feature smooth flowing radii across the surface for excellent flame travel. Designed and verified in JE's dedicated Critical Manufacturing Cell, providing reliable compression ratios and combustion characteristics.


JE Pro Seal piston rings

Every JE piston set includes a complete set of performance matching JE Pro Seal Piston Rings. JE Pro Seal rings are the result of over 60 years of experience in manufacturing racing piston technology such as NASCAR, ALMS, NHRA, and AMA. Pro Seal Ring features barrel-faced top rings made with premium ductile iron, plasma-moly inlays on the ring face combining nickel, chrome, and other trace elements. The second ring sets are taper-faced with a reverse torsional design and finished with a phosphate coating. These high-technology designs reduce friction, lower wear, improve ring seal, and extending ring life.


World class manufacturing and quality control

Meeting the extreme demands of today's ultra-performing race teams, JE Pistons are engineered, manufactured, and verified using during a Critical Process Program unique to JE. All critical surfaces are machined in a dedicated manufacturing cell resulting in tighter tolerances on 14 critical areas. 23-point quality inspection in an environmentally controlled lab, maintained at a constant 68 degrees with 40% relative humidity. This ensures consistent and exact measurements and guarantees dimensional conformity. Each piston is serialized and tracked, you can rest assured your piston set is ready to use right out of the box!  


JE wrist pins

All JE piston sets offered by IE include the wire locks and ship standard with straight wall carbon steel wrist pins. The included wrist pin is recommended for performance engines not exceeding 125HP per cylinder. For engines exceeding this power output, we highly recommend upgrading to JE's Tool Steel Wrist Pins when ordering.
