Integrated Engineering precision shortblock assemblies are the strong and reliable basis for your high performance VW/Audi application. Every short block option underwent countless hours of engineering and torture testing on our in-house engine dyno to determine the best selection of parts and build specifications for the desired performance level. This extensive design and testing process ensures your new short block assembly will perform with the upmost reliability. This specific IE Sport block is for use with 06A 1.8T 20V engines and offers 2008cc displacement. The added displacement will offer a noticeable increase in power throughout the entire powerband and allow the turbo to spool quicker. This block is by far the best bottom end option for street-driven 1.8T engine builds.

Good condition core 06A 1.8T blocks are required if you choose the option to provide a core. If you choose the option to send in a core 06A 1.8T block, please provide a good contact phone number or email so we can contact you with the core exchange instructions. Once we receive the confirmed good core block, we will ship out the assembled short block. All blocks will be thoroughly inspected, and not accepted unless confirmed usable.



Once the OEM VW/Audi block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is bolted to the block for an exact tolerance cylinder over bore and hone. This secures the block into the proper shape during the boring process guaranteeing true round cylinders and achieving precise piston to cylinder wall clearances. Along with perfect file fit piston rings, the block deck receives a fresh machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. The maincaps are installed and measured to exacting specifications using new OEM main bolts ensuring exact roundness for proper crank stability.  

The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged Tuscan I beam rifle drilled connecting rods, IE Spec Mahle 83mm 9.25:1CR forged stroker pistons, Mahle Motorsport rod and main bearings, and a polished brand new 92.8MM forged crankshaft by an IE expert engine builder. The final short block assembly includes a multi-point critical dimension check list with all measured clearances, and a instruction & care pamphlet. To complete your engine build, match your high-performance short block with an Integrated Engineering industry leading performance cylinder head.

Each block is finish painted with durable black enamel and packaged inside a specialty engine bag with a desiccant pouch to remove any moisture that may accumulate during the shipping process. They are then securely bolted into specially manufactured shipping crates ensuring there is no damage.

    IE Tuscan I beam rods are the premium connecting rod application for your European engine due to quality, custom application specific design, and thorough testing. Each Tuscan design is different from any other design because they are custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software. This is in contrast to the industry standard which simply resizes standard designs to fit new engines. Each application is vigorously tested in our in-house engine test cell. We have gone the extra mile to design specific big ends for each application, keeping the bearing in place and reducing chances of failures. This results in a connecting rod that is uniquely strong and light, for the ultimate in performance and reliability. With the included rifle drilling option, oil is forced to the wrist pin by means of a small hole drilled through the rod vertically. This reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear.  This is extremely beneficial on street cars that are driven frequently.

    The included set of IE Spec Mahle forged stroker pistons make for a stout reliable engine for daily driving, road racing, drag racing, or full out competition racing. Utilizing OE experience and innovative concepts, Mahle has continually adapted existing piston designs to combat challenges of aftermarket demands.  Mahle pistons utilize weight optimized aluminum pistons manufactured from high-temperature resistant aluminum silicon alloy. This alloy along with Mahle's refined design and production technology enable an ideal combination producing pistons with low weight and high load-bearing capacity. Mahle pistons are treated with their own GRAFAL skirt coating, this greatly reduces the skirt to wall surface friction and increases scuffing resistance.  Another advantage of the GRAFAL coated pistons is they enable a closer fitting clearance that gives significantly lower engine noise in conjunction with complex piston forms.  

    Mahle Motorsport manufactures the highest quality race bearings available proven time and time again by race engine builders including F1 race teams. With many special features, these bearings have great wear characteristics and added durability for long engine life. Mahle uses a proprietary tri-metal blend to provide a stiffer bearing under high load use, which is necessary for race engines. Each bearing is designed with state-of-the-art software for the ideal oil film thickness, which adds reliability and greatly reduces the chance of spinning a bearing.

    Included in this shortblock is a brand new OEM 2.0T FSI crank, which has the proper oil pump drive gear installed to drive the 1.8T oil pump. With this crank being an OEM piece, the fit and finish is exactly what you would expect, offering factory-like reliability. The stroke of this crankshaft is 92.8MM, which along with the larger bore pistons, allows for 2008CC displacement.
