Product Summary

WHAT IS A STROKER ENGINE?

IE's stroker short block ups the displacement by increasing the stroke and bore of the engine. The increased stroke from our 2.0L block is accomplished by using a larger 92.8mm stroke forged crankshaft. Specialty designed Mahle "stroker" pistons are used to increase the bore size to 83mm, these stroker pistons feature proper wristpin locations, skirt design, and valve reliefs to properly function with the IE connecting rods. This complete stroker assembly results in a 2008cc displacement that yields more horsepower and torque on the same boost pressure, less chance of detonation due to lower peak cylinder pressures, faster spool, and produces more power on low octane fuel.

 

 

IE RACE SERIES 

IE's Race Spec series assembled stroker short block is precisely built to withstand serious performance punishment from today's high-powered motorsport applications. This 1.8T assembly is machined using industry leading practices and assembled in-house by an IE certified race engine technician utilizing precise measurement and assembly tools not found elsewhere. Features IE Spec forged JE Pistons with tool teel wrist pins and standard skirt and dome coatings. The forged stroker crankshaft is reinforced with IE billet maincaps and ARP fasteners. Designed for race use, this shortblock will provide reliability for very high power applications, but may have louder operation, longer warm-up times, and less ring life on daily driven street applications. CORE CHARGE 

When ordering your new performance shortblock, you have the option to send in your block to be built, or purchase cores from IE to be built instead. In most cases, we recommend sending in your existing engine to be built for a faster turn around time and lower cost. Core charges are a great option if your existing short block has significant damage and can not be used. All cores will be critically inspected and verified by an IE Race Engine specialist before being accepted as a good and usable core. All engines are assembled in-house and assembly times can vary depending on workload. Typical build times can be as fast as 1-2 weeks or as long as 3-4 weeks from the time we receive your cores. If you chose to purchase a core, this does not guarantee a faster turn around time and cores are not guaranteed to be in-stock at time of purchase. ASSEMBLY PROCESS

Once the OEM VW/Audi block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is used to secure the block into the proper shape during the boring and honing process. This guarantees true round cylinders and results in precise piston to cylinder wall clearances necessary for long engine life. The block deck receives a fresh machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. The IE billet maincaps are installed and measured to exacting specifications using new ARP main studs ensuring exact roundness and increased crank stability. The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged Tuscan I beam rifle drilled connecting rods, JE 83mm 8.5:1CR forged stroker pistons, Mahle Motorsport rod and main bearings, and a blueprinted 2.0L stroker crankshaft by an IE expert engine builder. All clearances are recorded on a multi-point critical dimension check list with all measured clearances that is included with your block, along with an instruction & care pamphlet.

 

 

INDIVIDUAL PARTS TECHNICAL INFORMATION 

IE Tuscan I beam Connecting Rods

IE Tuscan I beam rods are the premium benchmark connecting rod application offering industry leading strength to weight ratio and support up to 1000BHP!
The Tuscan design is custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software then vigorously tested in our in-house engine dyno and chassis dyno test cells. This results in a connecting rod that is uniquely strong and light, for the ultimate in performance and reliability. With the included rifle drilling option, oil is forced to the wrist pin by means of a small hole drilled through the rod vertically. This reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear and further extending engine life.

 

IE Race Spec JE Forged Stroker Pistons

This is a complete custom set of 83mm 8.5:1 compression ratio JE forged stroker pistons designed to IE specifications for race engines. Engineered to withstand extreme race punishment, JE's trademarked coating Tuff Skirt ® and JE's own thermal barrier crown coating is utilized.  This piston set features oil ring rail support allowing the piston rings to be moved further down on the piston. Furthermore, upgraded lateral gas ports also come standard to build up pressure behind the compression ring and seal it against the cylinder wall. The over all strength is completed with a set of JE upgraded tool steel wrist pins.

 

Mahle Motorsport Rod & Main Bearings

Mahle Motorsport manufactures the highest quality race bearings available proven time and time again by race engine builders including F1 race teams. With many special features, these bearings have great wear characteristics and added durability for long engine life. Mahle uses a proprietary tri-metal blend to provide a stiffer bearing under high load use, which is necessary for race engines. Each bearing is designed with state-of-the-art software for the ideal oil film thickness, which adds reliability and greatly reduces the chance of spinning a bearing.

 

Crankshaft Re-manufacturing

Every crankshaft receives specialty machine work before engine assembly. The oil holes are chamfered and the journals are polished for improved oiling properties before receiving a multi-point critical measurement test to ensure long operating life of the rotating assembly.

 

 

SHIPPING DETAILS

Each block is finish painted with durable black enamel and packaged inside a specialty engine bag with a desiccant pouch to remove any moisture that may accumulate during the shipping process. They are then securely bolted into specially manufactured shipping crates ensuring there is no damage.

*Audi A4 B6 engines have a different water thermostat housing than other 06A blocks. When purchasing a longitudinal B6 06A short block, you will need to supply a B6 A4 06A core, or modify the thermostat housing of a non-B6 block.

This is a short block only, the block will be assembled with all internal rotating assembly parts listed in the product description only.  You will be required to supply the cylinder head, oil pump system, engine accessories, gaskets, manifolds, etc... of your choice.
