Integrated Engineering precision shortblock assemblies are the strong and reliable basis for your high performance VW/Audi application. Every short block option underwent countless hours of engineering and torture testing on our in-house engine dyno to determine the best selection of parts and build specifications for the desired performance level. This extensive design and testing process ensures your new short block assembly will perform with the upmost reliability.  This short block features added displacement resluting in a 2.0L 2008CC engine by increasing the bore and stroke.  This increased displacement yields more power and torque on the same boost pressure, faster spool, increased out of boost power levels, and lower peak cylinder pressures resulting in less chance of detonation.

Precision Short Block Assembly
Once the OEM VW/Audi block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is bolted to the block for an exact tolerance cylinder over bore and hone. This secures the block into the proper shape during the boring process guaranteeing true round cylinders and achieving precise piston to cylinder wall clearances. Along with perfect file fit piston rings, the block deck receives a fresh machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. An IE crankshaft girdle kit is installed and measured for the precise machning of the IE "Tallboy" billet maincaps for exact fitmanet.  The IE billet maincaps are then final installed installed and meticulously aligned honed using new ARP main studs for high clamping force and exact roundness for the new forged crank.  The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged Tuscan I beam connecting rods, IE race spec 9:1 JE forged pistons, Mahle race rod and main bearings, ARP fasteners, Integrated Engineering "Tallboy" billet main caps, Integrated Engineering girdle kit, and a new VW/Audi 2.0T FSI forged crankshaft by an IE expert engine builder. The final short bock assembly includes a multi-point critical dimension check list with all measured clearances, instruction & care pamphlet, and 5 quarts of Brad Penn break-in oil. To complete your engine build, match your high-performance short block with an Integrated Engineering industry leading performance cylinder head.

Integrated Engineering Forged Tuscan I beam Connecting Rods
Tuscan connecting rods are the premium offering of our line-up. The Tuscan design is custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software. Each application is vigorously tested in our in-house engine test cells and in a variety of sponsored vehicles. Our rods have unique big ends to provide the most stable platform for your connecting rod bearings possible. This results in a connecting rod that is uniquely strong and light, for the ultimate in performance and reliability available on the market.  

JE Forged Stroker Pistons
Each piston forging featured in the 1000 Race Short Block is a custom IE race spec piston including JE's Tuff Skirt piston coating and thermal barrier crown coating.  JE Pistons trademarked coating Tuff Skirt is a lubricating, anti-friction / anti-wear coating applied to the piston skirt. The thermal barrier crown coating is applied to the piston dome and is designed to reflect heat into the combustion chamber.  This increases exhaust gas velocity, greatly improves scavenging potential, and extends piston life by decreasing the rate of thermal transfer. Additionally, upgraded JE Tool Steel Wrist Pins are through-hardened high-carbon bearing steel and offer high-strength with low ductility.

Integrated Engineering Tallboy Billet Main Caps
IE "Tallboy" billet maincaps are designed to stand slightly proud of the block surface then machined level with the pan rail, resulting in a perfect flat surface for the installation of our crankshaft girdle kit.  This results in the most rigid foundation for the crankshaft possible. We precisely machine these 4140 steel billet main caps for a perfectly fitting, rigid alternative to the cast factory main caps providing the strongest foundation for extreme power levels. The billet main caps are then installed into the engine block along with the ARP main studs for exact-round align honing. 

Integrated Engineering Crankshaft Girdle
Under extreme horsepower and high RPMs the engine block can flex and cause irregular bearing wear, and failed internal components. To combat this by stiffening the block, a high strength IE girdle kit is installed. The kit includes a precision cut steel plate which bolts to the IE Tallboy main caps, main journals, and oil pan rails to reinforce the block and crankshaft preventing the components from flexing. Each kit includes lengthened install hardware, lengthened oil pump chain, and specialty matched ARP main studs. ARP main studs will hold up to the increased engine load of high-horsepower builds with high clamping force, and a stronger design than standard OE hardware.  Also, ARP hardware remains 100% reusable.

Mahle Race Rod & Main Bearings
Mahle Motorsport/Vandervell manufactures the highest quality race bearings available. This bearing technology has been proven time and time again utilized in F1 applications and many other extreme and demanding race engines. Mahle motorsport bearings have incredible wear characteristics and very high durability. Proprietary tri-metal blend is employeed to provide a stiffer bearing under high load use, which is necessary for demanding race engines. Each bearing is designed with state-of-the-art software for the ideal oil film thickness, which adds reliability and greatly reduces the chance of spinning a bearing.  In addition, these bearings feature laser marked identification marks versus the more commonly seen stamped marks. This allows for better heat transfer from the bearing, and does not disrupt the backing for absolute even wear.

2.0L Stroker Forged Crankshaft
Our stroker cranks begin with brand new VW/Audi factory forged 2.0T FSI crankshafts, then modified with a specialty oil pump drive gear.  The oil holes are chamfered and the journals are polish for improved oiling properties.  The forged crank is matched with JE stroker pistons for increased displacement and stroke increasing over all power and torque, reducing turbo lag, and strengthening the over all rotating assembly.

Each block is finish painted with durable black enamel and packaged inside a specialty engine bag with a desiccant pouch to remove any moisture that may accumulate during the shipping process. They are then securely bolted into specially manufactured shipping crates ensuring there is no damage.

Good condition core 1.8T 06A blocks are required for the option to provide a core. If you choose the option to send in a core 06A block, please provide a good contact phone number or email so we can contact you with the core exchange instructions. Once we receive the confirmed good core block, we will ship out the assembled short block. All blocks will be thoroughly inspected, and not accepted unless confirmed usable.
