CORE EXCHANGE INFORMATION

If the "Sending in block & crank", "Sending in block & no crank", or"Sending in crank & no block" option is chosen, we require a good usable core block and/or crankshaft from a 2.0T EA113 engine to be sent in. The core block must include the original main caps and oil squirters. All components must clear our inspection process before being accepted as passable cores. If the core does not pass our inspection process, you will be required to send in another or purchase a core from us. If the "No block & no crank" option is chosen, you will be charged the price of cores at the time of purchase.  When sending in any core, use our inspection and exchange form found HERE to confirm that it is usable and for instructions to ship the core to us.

 

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

Once the OEM VW/Audi block is cleaned and multi-point inspected, an Integrated Engineering torque plate is bolted to the block for an exact tolerance cylinder over bore and hone. This secures the block into the proper shape during the boring process guaranteeing true round cylinders and achieving precise piston to cylinder wall clearances. Along with perfect file fit piston rings, the block deck receives a fresh machined surface for a proper head gasket seal and strong compression. The IE billet 4140 main caps are installed with ARP main studs and machined to exacting specifications ensuring exact roundness and strong crank stability.  The rotating assembly is then installed with Integrated Engineering forged Tuscan I beam rifle drilled connecting rods, IE Spec Mahle 83mm 9:1CR forged pistons, Mahle Motorsport rod and main bearings, and a polished/chamfered OEM FSI forged crankshaft by IE's master Race Engine technician. The final short bock assembly includes a multi-point critical dimension check list with all measured clearances, and a instruction & care pamphlet. To complete your engine build, match your high-performance short block with an Integrated Engineering industry leading performance cylinder head.

 

HIGHLIGHTED ASSEMBLY COMPONENTS

  • IE Tuscan I beam Rifle Drilled Connecting Rods
    IE's Tuscan I beam rods are the premium connecting rod application for your European engine due to quality, custom application specific design, and thorough testing. Each Tuscan design is different because they are custom-crafted and optimized by our engineers using the latest CAD and FEA software. Each application is vigorously tested in our in-house engine test cell. We have gone the extra mile to design specific big ends for each application, keeping the bearing in place and reducing chances of failures. This results in a connecting rod that is uniquely strong and light, for the ultimate in performance and reliability. With the included rifle drilling option, oil is forced to the wrist pin by means of a small hole drilled through the rod vertically. This reduces friction on the pin and pin bushing, thus reducing wear.  This is extremely beneficial on street cars that are driven frequently.

 

  • Mahle Forged Pistons
    The included set of forged pistons make for a stout reliable engine for daily driving, road racing, drag racing, or full out competition racing. Utilizing OE experience and innovative concepts, Mahle has continually adapted existing piston designs to combat challenges of aftermarket demands.  Mahle pistons utilize weight optimized aluminum pistons manufactured from high-temperature resistant aluminum silicon alloy. This alloy along with Mahle's refined design and production technology enable an ideal combination producing pistons with low weight and high load-bearing capacity. Mahle pistons are treated with their own GRAFAL skirt coating, this greatly reduces the skirt to wall surface friction and increases scuffing resistance.  Another advantage of the GRAFAL coated pistons is they enable a closer fitting clearance that gives significantly lower engine noise in conjunction with complex piston forms.  

 

  • IE 4140 Standard Billet Main Caps
    IE's billet main caps are carefully crafted in-house from USA 4140 alloy steel, this large profile and high strength material is much stronger and stiffer than the factory main caps.  These main caps provide extreme rigidity for the main bearings and crankshaft, which is a necessity for high horsepower engines.

 

  • ARP Main Studs
    The IE billet main caps are installed and machined using a set of ARP main studs. This ARP main stud kit further eliminates main cap walk and fretting. ARP main studs are made from premium grade 8740 alloy steel and heat treated to 200,000psi then thread rolled for industry leading strength and reliable engine hardware.

 

  • Mahle Motorsport Rod & Main Bearings
    Mahle Motorsport manufactures the highest quality race bearings available proven time and time again by race engine builders including F1 race teams. With many special features, these bearings have great wear characteristics and added durability for long engine life. Mahle uses a proprietary tri-metal blend to provide a stiffer bearing under high load use, which is necessary for race engines. Each bearing is designed with state-of-the-art software for the ideal oil film thickness, which adds reliability and greatly reduces the chance of spinning a bearing.

 

  • VW/Audi OEM FSI Forged Crankshaft
    Your supplied core or new OEM FSI crankshaft reaceives specialty machine work before engine assembly.  The oil holes are chamfered and the journals are polished for improved oiling properties before receiving a multi-point critical measurment test to ensure a long operating life of the rotating assembly.
